Privacy Policy
Updated February 21, 2026
HearNow helps you listen to documents, web pages, and text. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Summary
- We store your documents on your device so you can listen offline.
- When you use AI features, selected content is sent to our AI service providers (such as OpenAI and Google) to generate results. We do not store this content on our servers.
- We use analytics and crash reporting tools to improve reliability.
- We do not sell your personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
Information We Collect
Content you provide
Documents, links, scans, and typed text are stored on your device. HearNow does not upload this content unless you use an AI feature. When you do, the selected content is sent to our AI service providers to generate the requested output (such as summaries, podcast audio, or AI voices). We select the most suitable model from providers such as OpenAI and Google based on the feature. We do not store your content on our servers—it is processed and immediately discarded. These providers process data under their respective API terms.
Usage and diagnostics
We collect app usage events (for example, import method, document type, playback settings, and feature usage) and diagnostic data such as crash reports and performance metrics. This data helps us improve the app.
Identifiers
We create a non-personal identifier to provide backend services (such as AI features and quota management).
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are processed by the app store. We receive subscription status but do not receive your payment card details.
Third-party integrations
If you connect third-party services, we access the files you choose to import in order to deliver the feature.
How We Use Information
- Provide core features like importing, reading, and playback.
- Generate AI summaries, podcast-style discussions, or AI voices when you request them.
- Improve reliability, performance, and feature quality.
- Enforce quotas, prevent abuse, and support subscriptions.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us operate HearNow, including:
- AI service providers (such as OpenAI and Google) — Process text content to generate summaries, podcast audio, and AI voices. We select the most suitable provider for each feature.
- Apple — App Store for subscription and payment processing.
- Third-party services you choose to connect (such as Google Drive).
These providers are required to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
Data Storage and Retention
Your imported content and reading progress are stored on your device. You can delete documents from the app at any time, which removes them from local storage. When you use AI features, content is transmitted to our AI service providers to fulfill the request. We do not store this content on our servers—it is processed in real-time and not retained by HearNow.
Your Choices
- Delete documents from the Library to remove them from your device.
- Manage permissions for files, photos, and microphone access in iOS Settings.
- Contact us to request deletion of any data associated with your device.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, but no system can be 100% secure. Please keep your device protected and up to date.
Children
HearNow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, notify you in the app or on this page.
